I hope you were able to spend the day surrounded by loved ones with plenty of turkey, stuffing, and pie to go around. We were blessed to share this Thanksgiving with our two little turkeys and family.
As we near the end of the year, it is so good to slow down and let our hearts fill with gratitude at the blessings we have received and the prayers that have been answered. As a nonprofit, we have much to be thankful for. Here are just a few:
We are thankful that, because of your kindness, twenty-two Honduran and Nicaraguan elementary and middle school students were able to attend school, outfitted with a uniform and shoes that fit, backpacks, supplies, and a smile.
We are grateful for our high school scholars who work jobs, attend school, and provide community service. They are the future that Honduras needs: educated, hard-working, servant leaders with a heart for the Lord and their community. Thank you Lord for the gift of Erick, Yoselin, Juan David, Arianny, Victoria, Jefferson, and Katy.
We give thanks for our college students, Maday, Lidia, Melquisadek, and Lorena. They balance family commitments, jobs, studies, and service in order to break cycles of poverty and build a future for themselves and their families.
We are thankful for the 1000 hours of community service that our high school and college scholars provided their local community. They helped repair roads after heavy rains, construct churches, babysit, tutor, clean up trash from the river, cook for the elderly, prevent Dengue, and much, much more.
We are grateful for Kevin and his parents and their perseverance and faith throughout a long and distressing illness. We are grateful that Kevin has kept his smile and sense of joy even when he lost all ability to move. We are grateful for his medical team in Honduras and the stateside professionals who have provided us with consultation and advice as we support him.
We are grateful for our Honduran partners, doctors, educators, and community members who help us with referrals, finding in-country resources, and providing medical care to the patients we support.
We are grateful to our board of directors who volunteer their time, talent, and treasure to support our work. Thank you Chris, Angela, Kaitlyn, Ruthie, Sean, Madeline, Ryan, Victor, Lucila, and Manuel!
We are grateful for YOU, our faithful team and partners in mission. Without you, none of this would be possible. Your open hearted generosity has changed and saved lives. Thank you for being the light and lifting great burdens from the shoulders of the poor.
Finally, I want to ask each of you to partner with us in mission by becoming a monthly donor if you haven’t yet done so. Our monthly donors are the backbone of our mission, providing steady support throughout the year so that we can fund scholarships and fund emergency medical care. We are in great need of committed donors to help sustain our work. Tomorrow is Black Friday. You will be inundated with ads asking you to spend your money on things you may or may not need. We hope you can take advantage of the deals, but we also hope in the midst of the buying you take a moment to consider the poor and ask yourself if, perhaps, you could commit to them as well. A $10.00/month sponsorship will allow us to send two elementary school children to school with a uniform, shoes, and supplies. $50.00 a month can help us fund urgent healthcare needs. For $100/month, you can support a high school student' education for an entire year. And, whether or not you can give, please consider sharing this email and our online Giving Tuesday fundraisers with your friends and family. You can share our Facebook fundraiser by sharing this link on your facebook page and you can follow and share our Giving Tuesday posts via Instagram.
Finally, we want know how we can support you in prayer. Advent is starting this Sunday, and as a family, we will be lighting our Advent candles and praying for your intentions by name. If you have a special intention we can pray for, please send it to us here:
